Our DJs are among the best in the business
No matter what the occasion, we are confident that our DJs (Disc Jockeys) can keep you and your guests happy for your whole occasion.
With over twenty years of experience, we have made weddings, engagements, civil partnerships, corporate events, Christmas parties, student balls, children's parties and other family events very special for, literally, tens of thousands of people over the years.
All of our DJs are highly experienced, well-presented, courteous and sensitive to the audience’s music requirements. Each carries a wide selection of party favourites from the last 50 years, ranging from Frank Sinatra and The Beatles through to the latest Top 40 chart, and every show we do is tailored specifically to the audience on the night.
For those more specialised occasions we also have a number of DJs who specialise in individual styles of music such as House, R’n’B, Garage, Drum & Bass, Rock'n'Roll, Motown, Soul, Jazz, Funk, Salsa, Rock & Indie, Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, Nineties and the Noughties. These include a range of good all-round party DJs, and semi-famous dance DJs Scott Free and Dan Jones, plus the infamous 70s Disco cheesemeister, "DJ Superfly".
All of our DJs bring with them state-of-the-art equipment, which means that the show they put on looks great and sounds fantastic. For a guide on what equipment we provide and how much it costs, see our Mobile Discos page.
Here are some profiles of our most popular DJs...
Scott Lewis (AKA "Scott Free")
Scott is the consummate professional. Based in Reading, Berkshire, he is a singer, guitarist, DJ and compere with thirty-four years of experience behind him. Scott can handle just about any situation and make it a fun experience for all involved.
In the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s Scott was the main resident DJ at Reading University Students Union, helping to shape the course of the entertainment programme for most of Reading's students. He then went on to promote student nights in many of the bars and clubs in the town. Scott has also worked regularly for Thames Valley University, University College London (UCL) and University of Westminster.
Scott went on to develop a number of regular mainstream nights at each of Reading's premier nightclubs in the 1990s and early 2000s, including The Matrix, Fez Club, Level 1, Po-Na-Na and RG1.
In 2003 and 2004 Scott was the only DJ ever to be voted "best all-round DJ" two years in a row in the popular Cyprus holiday resort of Ayia Napa. As well as making guests appearances at a variety of other bars and nightclubs there, he had nightly DJ residencies at Monkey Business and The Castle and worked as MC and promoter at Starsky & Hutch.
Scott now works mainly on the mobile circuit, providing his services for wedding receptions, birthday parties, student balls, bar/bat mitzvahs and corporate events.
Dan Jones
Based in Basildon, Essex, Dan started his DJ career on the London scene in the late 90s where he learned to work the crowds at UCL Student Union's nightclub. He has since DJ-ed in some of London's top clubs, including Ministry of Sound, and has even taken his talents to Ayia Napa, Cyprus, and Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
As a function DJ, Dan has entertained party-goers at some of the UK's most prestigious and glamorous venues, including the Grosvenor House Hotel, Café Royal and The Hilton Park Lane.
Dan's DJ style covers party music from the '60s to the '10s, although he is equally at home spinning the latest club tunes and telling the crowd to reach for those lasers!
Paul Richie
Paul started his DJ-ing career playing at parties in the Reading area and has also played on London's Vybe FM. Having owned a set of turntables since he was 14 years old, he has followed in his father's footsteps and developed his skills as an excellent DJ. Paul now works at venues all over London and the South East and takes great pleasure in making every event he plays at a success, especially when asked to play Motown, Funk and Soul.
Paul joined Top Cat Entertainments in 2008 and has received commendations at hundreds of events including birthday parties, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings and corporate functions.
Maurice Ashkenazi
Based in Swiss Cottage in Central London, Maurice is a talented musician, composer and DJ. Back in the 1990s he had a major hit with one of his own compositions and subsequently toured the world supporting some of the biggest House DJs. Now in his thirties, Maurice has settled down to raise a family, composing incidental music for a variety of television shows.
His DJ career has remained active, and although his first love will always be House music, he also shows his talent as a great all-round DJ at weddings, birthdays and barmitzvahs.
Chris Roots
Based in Brentwood, Essex, Chris Roots has been DJ-ing in the bars, clubs and family events, and has been one of Top Cat Entertainments' longest runnign DJs, having joined the team back in 1998.
Chris is equally at home playing 60s/70s/80s as he is playing music from the very latest Top 40 Chart.
Jamie Mackay
Based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, Jamie has been officially DJ-ing since 2001. He started out hosting a radio show at Reading University's student radio station, then joined Top Cat Entertainments as a mobile and club DJ.
Jamie looks back with fondness at his residencies at the Fez Club Students Night at which he DJ-ed on Tuesdays, but his favourite residency of all was Sunday evenings at Revolution in Reading, playing an eclectic mix of Chill-Out, Funk, Soul and laidback beats.
Jamie always aims to satisfy as many requests as possible – the more obscure the better! - and is keen to impress. He has particular penchants for 80s Pop, Indie and House music and just can’t get enough of Electronica at the moment.
Jamie Vallance
Based in Henley, Oxfordshire, Jamie is a great all-round DJ and karaoke host.
For many years, he has been a favourite at many of our regular venues and a valued part of the team.
With a broad understanding of what music to play for the crowd in front of him, Jamie always has something nice to say and manages to charm his audience every time.
Ian J Sinnetti
Based in Caversham, Berkshire, Ian has been a professional DJ for over 10 years, putting on and performing at hundreds of events as well as managing a few record labels too.
He has played many of the premier clubs in the UK including Fabric, Heaven, Shepherds Bush Empire, Glastonbury Dance Tent, Sankeys and the Matrix. His mixes have even been used at events as prestigious as 'The London Fashion Show'.
Ian loves to host parties and uses his mixing skills to bring all of your favourite tunes together into one great event. A seasoned veteran, he really understands how to deliver what you want from a DJ.
Unknown to most of his friends, Ian also makes balloon animals which always goes down a treat at children's parties.
Simon Peters
Simon is based near Maidstone in Kent and looks after a lot of the work which we get in Central and South London, as well as in his home county. Simon always has his finger on the pulse of the current Top 40 chart, and loves to play in a lively, clubby venue. However, he is equally at home at weddings and corporate functions.
Alex Lilley
Based in Bushey, Hertfordshire, Alex joined the team in 2004 and became a favourite on the University circuit.
Alex has a natural "happy go lucky" charm and loves to get a party started. He is equally happy playing Oldies and Newies, and always adds a little banter on the microphone.
Unlike most, Alex is happy to admit that he is "a bit of a chav".
Oli Fifield
Based in Guildford, Surrey, Oli has wide experience as a DJ and Karaoke host and is just as happy playing at wedding receptions, corporate events, pubs and clubs. He takes great pleasure in seeing full dancefloor and loves to ensure that everyone leaves the event at the end of the night with sore feet.
Darren Salter
Based in Thame, Oxfordshire, Darren has been DJ-ing for us for over ten years. As an ex soldier, he is one of the most organised and disciplined people I have ever known. His attention to detail, punctuality and music knowledge are second to none and he has an attitude that “nothing is too much trouble”. Darren is a great all-rounder and specializes in weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, children's parties and corporate events.
Jeff Ayres
Jeff lives in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, and plays regularly at bars and clubs in the Oxford area. His versatility and willingness to travel all over the UK makes him an asset to our business.
Nick Harding
Based in Bracknell, Berkshire, Nick is a great all-round entertainer. He loves to DJ, but also runs Poker tournaments and quiz nights for us and heads up our team of Casino croupiers.
Ash Khimani
Based in Harrow, Middlesex, Ash is a fine DJ and Karaoke host. He is well known for his punctuality and attention to detail. Ash is skilled at providing his services to student events, weddings and corporate parties.
James Hilton
Based in Bracknell, Berkshire, James is a great all-round DJ who is particularly popular at children's parties, basr and clubs. His willingness to please shines through, and he goes down well at every gig.
"Jovi"
We often say that Jovi missed his calling as a Bon Jovi impersonator, but it didn't stop him from earning his nickname. With a great singing voice, he is the king of karaoke and also a great all-round party DJ. Based in Edgware, Middlesex, Jovi mainly works for us around a couple of London-based chains of hotels and wine bars which we look after.
Darren Glasgow
Based in Kingston-Upon-Thames, Darren has been one of our reliable and hard-working DJs for many years. Darren's favourite music era is 70s and 80s, but he is happy to play a broader mix of music to suit any crowd and is a big hit in his weekly Saturday night residency at The Common Room in Wimbledon.
